Things to Do in Richmond BC

A practical guide to Richmond attractions, waterfronts, parks, heritage, food districts and seasonal experiences.

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA

What to know

Steveston Village is Richmond's most concentrated visitor district. The working harbour, Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, Steveston Museum, Steveston Tram, Imperial Landing and Garry Point can form one coherent day.

For outdoor time, choose the landscape you actually want. Richmond Nature Park protects bog habitat; Terra Nova offers riverfront nature and open space; Garry Point is a broad waterfront park; the West and South Dykes are suited to walking and cycling; Iona Beach is a longer, exposed coastal outing.

Central Richmond offers Minoru Park, Richmond Museum and Richmond Art Gallery. Golden Village and Alexandra Road are strongest when food is the main purpose. Seasonal attractions such as the Richmond Night Market should be checked for current dates before travel.

Plan it step by step

  1. Choose one anchor district or attraction.
  2. Check current hours, fares, closures and weather.
  3. Add only nearby stops that fit the same route.
  4. Leave enough time for meals, parking, transit and unexpected delays.

Use Richmond's districts instead of a citywide checklist

Brighouse, Steveston, Golden Village, Sea Island and the western dike areas each function as different planning zones. A focused district itinerary usually produces more useful time on foot and less time crossing bridges, arterial roads and waterways.

Transit and walking

Canada Line is strongest along the No. 3 Road corridor and for YVR access. Walking works well inside Steveston and around Minoru, but not between every major Richmond attraction. Bus, bicycle, taxi or a car may be needed for the last part of a trip.

What to verify before leaving

Check the current operating source for any place that has admission, scheduled programming or seasonal hours. For parks and trails, check City or regional notices. For airport and transit details, use YVR and TransLink. For festivals, use the current organizer or City calendar.
